Becki Newton
Born in New Haven, Connecticut, Becki Newton was raised in Guilford, Connecticut. Her parents are English as well as Czech of Czech descent. She began her career in theaters around the area. European History. Newton took part in as a member of the Alpha Chi Omega Sorority at Penn. Newton was a graduate of Penn University in 2006, transferred from Penn to New York City where she found roles on TV for organizations like Olive Garden. Newton was the lead character Amanda Tanen in the comedy-drama show Ugly Betty from 2006 to in 2010. Together with co-star Michael Urie, Newton co-hosted the"Official Ugly Betty" Podcast. Newton also appeared on ABC.com's Mode After Hours webisode series. Ugly Betty was canceled in 2010, after four years of successful programming, which allowed the show to get a full-on series end. Newton appeared at New York City Center's Encores at the end of 2009. presentation of the Gershwin musical Girl Crazy, which was directed by Jerry Zaks. Her partner Chris Diamantopoulos performed with her as Molly Gray. Newton played a prominent role in Love Bites, a television show. This romantic comedy lasted for an hour and was conceived by executive producer Cindy Chupack, who worked for Sex and the City. NBC has picked the series up at the end of May in 2010 but due to Newton's announcement that she was pregnant, Jordana Spiro's contractual commitment to be on the show with My Boys and the show being removed later and Chupack not wanting to go on Love Bites, the premiere was pushed back to midseason.
