Stevie Wonder-3-819x1024Stevie Wonder, who had left MoTown in 1970 to record two independent album for himself, was stunned to learn of this. Berry Gordy was shocked to be informed of this by Stevie Wonder and Berry Gord accepted Stevie Wonder's request for more autonomy and complete creative control and the right to all his music. Stevie Wonder signed a 13 million dollars MoTown Records contract in 1972. Stevie Wonder received a higher rate of royalty and had full creative control. Also, he had the right to compose his own songs which was an opportunity that only a handful of artists were able to get at the time. The contract allowed Wonder's songs and videos to be used to debate controversial topics such as war, poverty,drugs and politics. His 1972 album, Music Of My Mind was the first to be released under his new MoTown contract. Talking Book was Stevie Wonder's album released in the latter part of 1972. It is still a significant piece of music. It featured Superstition as the number one song.
